This Christmas shopping CD-ROM concept for Littlewoods nearly got there.
Remember CD-ROMs? They still had a high perceived value around the turn of the century.
The idea was to partner with a national newspaper and cover mount free CDs.
Readers would slide the disk into their computers, shop a selected range of Christmas stuff, then, err, call up Littlewoods to relay what they wanted. Great experience, especially when items are out of stock.
